Almost 50 young people from Brandenburg, Saxony and Berlin took part in the second Future Academy this year and impressed with their unquenchable thirst for knowledge! Among other things, the participants learnt about career prospects in the field of renewable energies and experienced Lusatia as an attractive place to work.

The Future Academy programme offered insights into various future technologies, such as BASF's sodium-sulphur battery park and the Lusatia Energy Park in Klettwitz (GP JOULE), which demonstrated the efficient reuse of post-mining areas. Participants deepened their knowledge of the energy transition in practical workshops on photovoltaics, the electricity market, green hydrogen and wind farm project planning. One of this year's highlights was the abseiling at the LEAG conference centre in Lübbenau, made possible by the industrial climbers from hi.work GmbH and Alpintec GmbH. These activities not only provide a platform for discussions and outdoor activities, but also bring the energy transition to life. The young adults are encouraged to actively help shape change and develop innovative solutions that will have a positive impact on themselves and the region in the long term.

At the end of the week, our participants not only discussed key issues of structural change with the Lusatia Commissioner of the Brandenburg state government, Dr Klaus Freytag, but also drew up a vision for the future of Lusatia in 2040/2050.

The Lusatia Future Academy will take place from 10-13 June in Lübbenau.
